Figure4: The results of the piping network Abstract: This particular project was assigned as part of CVE341- Water Resources Engineering course. Each group was assigned a map, and was then required to design water drinking network for a new city development in Turkey. The project started off by a list of assumptions related to pipe materials, reservoir elevation, and pipe diameters, which were obtained from a variety of references that included internet, WaterCAD, and educated guesses made by our group members. Next, the WaterCAD software was applied to obtain the hydraulic pressure at each junction. The values had to satisfy certain limit (420-520 kPa). The overall city location and network distribution are provided at later sections in this report. We also carried out hand calculations to find the friction or head losses between any pair of junction points. 4

The primary objective of this project is to design the pipe network for a provided area (new city development in Turkey) with specific water discharge requirements. The location for the construction of a water reservoir is also required to provide a certain pressure on the junctions. WaterCAD software will be used to design the network for the area we were provided the map for. Proper hand calculation checks will be used to verify and double-check the obtained results like the head loss and to calculate the friction losses. 5
