English 1B Section 4 Craig Lore 2 December 2010 Field Research Report Golf is a great sport to play as a youth, but there are not enough golf facilities that accommodate to their needs. Overall, golf is seen as an expensive sport to play. Majority of golfers agree that even though the sport is becoming more “youth-friendly,” there still is a lot more that can be done. In Northern California, there is a program called “Youth On Course,” which was setup by the Northern California Golf Association (NCGA). It allows youths to play affordably while offering clinics, mentoring, internships, and scholarships. At Spring Valley Golf Course in Milpitas, they have a Youth On Course program where members may play during designated hours in the afternoon (depending on the time of the year) for a nominal fee of five dollars. As safety precautions for the kids who are playing, they must be accompanied by a parent. I saw this as a great way for parents to spend time and bond with their child. It is a great environment,
