Professional Development 1-Apoorva Mohta Mobile Application Development in the U.S. Army This event took place at Hinds Hall Room 011(Innovation Studio) on September 19 th , 2011 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. In 2010, the US Military commissioned a contest asking enthusiasts to develop applications for them in which 141 participants created 53 apps out of which 25 were shortlisted. Realizing the interest and possible advantages of lightweight, mobile, yet powerful computing devices, they pursued the initiative. LTC Gregory Motes from the U.S. Army Mobile Applications Branch at Fort Gordon discussed the path that the army has taken to examine the adoption of smart phones within its ranks. It included detailed information about the possibilities and pitfalls that have been met in the Connecting Soldiers to Digital Applications (CSDA) program.
