Fin 460 Swim with the Sharks In the book “Swim the Sharks without Being Eaten Alive” teaches the reader successful strategies in salesmanship, negotiation and management. Harvey Mackay built a multimillion dollar envelope manufacturing company and wants his readers to understand the “what it takes” part of the business world. Mackay motivates his readers without even mentioning the words “determination” or “how to succeed” towards the end of the book (Mackay 237). I enjoyed reading MacKay’s book and took some of his advice to heart. He uses strategies such as the “MacKay 66” to get know his clients. These questions would help him get to know each customer on a personal level and give him the chance to adapt to their lifestyle. The questions would include simple things such as “education” to “lifestyle”. An example used in the book is how he found out one of clients had an interest in wrestling through the “MacKay 66” and offered an outing to ringside seats.
