Farzana Rahman Comp 2 Dec. 8, 2011 “Gattaca”- A well made Sci-Fi “Gattaca” the movie is a science fiction set in the 21st century, Gattaca gives one perspective that DNA might be a basis of discrimination in future. We have discrimination down to a science in the movie named “Gattaca”. This is a very well thought movie and it is made with senses that are easy to understand. Gattaca is similar in nature to our current NASA and it is a space agency in the future that is only open to those with the “right things.” Children, for those who can afford it, are now created by DNA manipulation, called “valids.” You can essentially buy whatever traits you would like for your baby. “Gattaca” is a 1997 American science fiction drama film written and directed by Andrew Niccol, starring Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman and Jude Law with supporting roles played by Loren Dean, Ernest Borgnine, Gore Vidal and Alan Arkin. The film was a 1997 nominee for the Academy Award for Best Art Direction, and Set Decoration. Vincent (Ethan Hawke) was conceived as a “natural birth” because his parents wanted it that way, but their next child, Anton (Jude Law), was a valid. Vincent’s dream had always been to go to Gattaca.
