Communication Arts 350: Final Exam Study Guide The final exam will be held Sunday, December 18, 7:45 - 9:45 a.m. in Chamberlin 2103. Please bring a pencil to the exam. The exam will focus on the material we have covered since the midterm. But we will assume you have retained your vocabulary on film style learned in the first half of the course. We will assume you have watched and thought deeply about all of the films on the syllabus. The exam will consist of 50 multiple choice questions and one essay question. It will cover material from the lectures, film screenings, sections, and reading. Avant-Garde Be able to describe the style and form of the following films. Ballet Mécanique (Léger and Murphy, 1924, 10 min.) A Movie (Bruce Conner, 1958, 12 min.) avant-garde film: what is it? avant-garde film’s mode of practice (i.e. production, distribution, exhibition, and reception) The differences between Hollywood and Avant-garde "modes" The importance of art historical context for avant-garde film
