Lab 3: Cultural Landscapes (Jan 26-29) Lab 3 is based on Chapters 5 and 6 of the textbook. Please ensure that you have read these Chapters before coming to lab. Concepts to be learned: You will explore how cultural identity is reflected in the landscape by examining how cultures use space, turn space into place, and form cultural landscape. We will use the immediate area around the WLU campus and Uptown Waterloo as real life examples. I think this is a key, Chinese palace only has two color, red and gold, red walls and gold roofs, red stand for blood, and gold for money, blood and money, Chinese conception of power The Lab Exercise: In groups, you will ‘ GET OUT! ’ and explore the city streets that surround the WLU campus. Groups will be given information and the locations for two examples of cultural landscapes. Groups will leave the classroom so that they can assess what culture each example belongs to and how each example represents its culture in the landscape. Once complete, groups will return
