Physics 113B (Quantum Mechanics) Syllabus Fall 2011 Instructor: Wilson Ho, RH 310B (Rowland Hall), (949)824-5234, [email protected] Office Hours: Tu 12:30 – 14:30 and by appointment, RH 310B Teaching Assistant: Shaowei Li, [email protected] Office Hours: TuTh 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., FRH B140 Textbook: Introduction to Quantum Mechanics , 2 nd Edition, D.J. Griffiths (Pearson, 2005, Upper Saddle River). We will cover chapters 5, 6, 7, and 8. Time and Place: Lectures: TuTh 11:00 – 12:20, PSCB 230 Discussion: M 11:00 – 11:50 a.m., PSCB 230 Goals: To introduce a conceptual and mathematical framework in non-relativistic quantum mechanics for treating many particles and selected atomic and molecular problems. Lectures are intended to introduce and connect new ideas and provide examples. These new concepts are further developed through homework assignments and in the discussion section.
