Steve Gross/Shin Lin Course Code 05520, 05530 Fall 2011 CLASS REQUIREMENTS: Midterm Exam Wednesday, October 26, 2010 40% Final Exam Bio 103(A): Fri, 12/9, 1:30-3:30pm Bio 103(B): Wed, 12/7, 1:30-3:30pm NOTE: You MUST take the final exam associated with the class you are enrolled in. Switching exams is not an option, even if you have multiple exams on the same day, so please plan accordingly . 40% Active Learning Assignments On-line quiz/hw (9%) Clicker participation (10%) Course evaluations (1%) 20% REQUIRED TEXT: Molecular Biology of the Cell ( 5 th Edition) Alberts, et al ISBN 978-0-8153-4105-5 The pages listed on the lecture schedule are recommended readings, meaning they should be used to supplement what is discussed in class. For Dr. Gross’ portion of the class, there will be REQUIRED reading, covering material for which you will be responsible but which will NOT be extensively covered in class. Bio D103: Cell Biology There is now a huge amount of information about how cells function. Though details are important, the real goal of this course is to emphasize the basic principles and general concepts of Cell Biology. In your studies, always try to integrate any new material into your own “big picture”. If you do this, the course will be a success for you! Instructors
