Unformatted text preview: Daniel Kelleher Ms. Williams English 110, section 30 February 15, 2011 Author Brandon Zimmermans article, Why Expensive Running Shoes are Hurting Runners attempts to convince readers that modern day running shoes lead to more foot injuries and that the human body is perfectly designed for barefoot running, so therefore more people should try running barefoot. After reading this article, my thoughts of running shoes had been drastically altered, but I also had major problems with the practicality involved in Zimmermans thesis. The numerous facts and expert book references truly influenced my thoughts that running shoes may cause harm to ones feet and therefore in turn cause more injuries due to running shoes design flaws. Zimmerman goes on to say The invention of the running shoes in the early 1970s was originally designed simply help runners go faster and never claimed to prevent injuries (Zimmerman 1).
