Daniel Kelleher Dr. Spacht Outdoor Recreation Lesson Plan April 18, 2011 Lesson Focus : Rock Climbing Class Size : 15 Location of Lesson : Rock Climbing Room Standards and Grade Level Expectations : Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities. Standard 2: Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities. Standard 5: Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings Essential Questions : I want the students to be able to articulately describe and show me how tie the different rock climbing knots. I want the students to understand that rock climbing is a very serious outdoor activity and that safety should always be the number one priority. I want the students to be able to properly belay and use effective climbing communication. Formative Assessment : I will know that today’s lesson was successful when I visual watch students using correct climbing techniques and safety. I will also be listening for the correct and proper use of climbing
