Activation Energy- the least amount of energy required to activate atoms or molecules to a state where they can undergo chemical reaction s . Active Transport- the movement of ions or molecules across a cellular membrane from a lower to a higher concentration Allosteric Modulation- whenever a protein’s function is controlled by ligand-induced shape changes ATP- Molecule with a phosphate to transfer high phosphorylation potential Autotroph- cells ability to reduce co2 into a 3-carbon sugar Biosynthesis- use of metabolic pathways to rearrange atoms in molecules available to the cell into biologically useful molecules Chemical Reaction- when the arrangement of atoms within a molecule is different coming out then going in a collision Concentration Gradient- The graduated difference in concentration of a solute per unit distance through a solution Deletion Mutation- gene mutation where the deletion of nucleotide causes a shift in the reading of mRNA codons , amino acid sequence changes DNA polymerase- the enzyme responsible for DNA replication
