Linear equality an expression where all variables are to the first power And equality meaning equal sign ex, 2x+4=10 Linear inequality – a linear expression with an inequity sign ex. 2x>10 Half plane – the region defined by a linear inquality System of linear inequalities – A collection of linear inequalities Feasibility region- The region determined by all of the inequalities of a system of linear inequalities Linear function - A function where every variable in the expression is to the 1 st power Lines of constancy - Assume linear function Z= ax+by, lines of constancy are the collection of lines formed by varying values of Z. Linear program – A problem of maximizing or minimizing a linear function over a set of linear constraints Polygon- A geometric object enclosed by three of more straight line segments where that intersect only at the corner points Theorem: let z=ax+by be a linear function and P be a polygon in the plane the maximization or minimization of z will occur at the cornet points of P
