What are the advantages and disadvantages of Web 2.0? How has Web 2.0 impacted business? The idea that Web 2.0 introduces to the internet is that of the 'Web as a Platform'. In other words, using the web as the basis for services that people use, rather than applications that are housed on servers that require users to access each time they desire to use. What Web 2.0 does is take the idea that more people create a better service. Another thought is that of 'software as a service'. For example, FedEx and UPS offer online the same things that you can receive over the phone; things such as package tracking. Web 2.0 works on the assumption that platform is better than application. That means that instead of locking down a user or users with an application that is limited in nature by the developer, you allow a platform on which users can share data, have meetings and other forms of online collaboration...
