Assignment 5 , Mechtron/Sfwr Eng 4aa4 Sample Solution 4) A system contains the following four periodic tasks. The tasks are to be scheduled using RM algorithm. [8 + 2] T 1 = (10 , 24 , 4 , 24 , [ A ; 1]) T 2 = (7 , 25 , 4 , 25 , [ A ; 1][ B ; 1]) T 3 = (4 , 26 , 4 , 26 , [ B ; 1][ A ; 1]) T 4 = (0 , 27 , 11 , 27 , [ A ; 5[ B ; 2[ C ; 1]]]) (i) Graphically show the schedule for 26 units of time using the NPCS protocol for resource access control. Given that: T 1 executes for 2 units of time then requests resource A T 2 executes for 1 unit of time then requests resource A followed by resource B T 3 executes for 1 units of time then requests resource B followed by resource A T 4 executes for 2 units of time then requests resource A, holds it for 1 unit of time then requests resource B, followed by resource C after using resource B for one time unit and finally finishes with resource A such that A is held for a total of 5 units of time starting from the time it was first locked by this task (ii) Indicate the time each task was blocked due to resource con- tentions. ANS: Only task T3 is blocked by the lower priority task T4 due to resource contention for 3 time units. 5) Given a task set: T 1 (5 . 5 , 20 , 4 , 20[ R 3 ; 2]) , T 2 (2 , 22 , 5 , 22[ R 2 ; 3[ R 1 ; 1]]) , T 3 (0 , 24 , 7 , 24[ R 1 ; 5 . 5[ R 2 ; 2 . 5]])

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
