TO: Professor Whitney Taylor FROM: Emigdio Niquet DATE: July 13, 2011 SUBJECT: Analytical Report Case I have analyzed the results from buying preferences of consumers focusing on the following two questions: 1. What effect would generic food items have on consumer spending? 2. What effect would generic nonfood items have on consumer spending? Generic Food Items North Stars has current annual sales of $47.5 million. This amount could increase if consumers know that they can save money by purchasing generic brands instead of national brands. The most profitable product would be ammonia. According to a survey I conducted in August, the average sales would increase in Generic Products if consumers can save 30 percent on their purchases. As shown in figure 1, consumers would increase generic product consumption. Figure 1 Generic Nonfood Items Most consumers have bought a nonfood generic product at least once. Largest consumers tend to buy more nonfood products for the first time than all consumers.
