Sean Quigley AP English 2A 11/17/11 How to Escape from a Bad Date Comprehension: 1. The 4 basic escape strategies that the authors use are, Fake an Emergency, Slip Away Unnoticed, Get Your Date to Leave, and Be Aware. 3. The authors are thinking of a blind date that is completely unbearable. They imagine it at a restaurant and you can tell this because, they directly mention that you would be in a restaurant in the 11 th paragraph. Purpose and Audience: 1. The authors that wrote this tried to make this essay humorous by giving awful advice and trying to defend it. The authors are not serious but try to make there tone sound serious. 2. The visuals serve as an aid to the examples to give visual clarity. The picture also grabs the readers attention and also adds humor to the essay. 3. The thesis that is implied from this essay is that if you get placed I an awkward date there are steps to get out of the situation.
