MAE 4272 HT1 Engine Performance Evaluation Purpose. In this laboratory we will: (1) Become familiar with light truck engine geometry, operation, and air pollutant emissions. (2) Evaluate the performance of a 1994 GMC truck with a 4.3L V6 engine under constant speed, variable load conditions. This will involve a) measuring the fuel consumption rate and wheel power, and determining in which truck systems the fuel's heating value is used or wasted. b) measuring the levels of the air pollutants before and after the emissions catalyst.
