Ever wonder what goes on behind of scenes of health care settings? Well Im here to give you a brief breakdown of what goes on behind health care settings and what the benefits are. Hospitals : Critical access hospitals (CAHs): state certified, emergency services handled within 24 hours with a minimum 15 inpatient beds, except for swing-bed facilities, minimum 25 inpatient beds General hospitals: provide emergency care, surgery, and admit patients Specialty hospitals: concentrate on patients or disease categories Rehabilitation hospitals: admit those diagnosed with trauma or disease and need proper training Behavioral health care hospitals: mental health diagnoses Ambulatory care: patients can receive care in one day without the need for inpatient hospitalization. Ambulatory care can come in the form of freestanding or hospital-based facility such as : Ambulatory surgical centers (freestanding) Hospital-based outpatient department Hospital-based emergency department Hospital-owned physician practice Neighborhood health centers Physician offices Public health departments Urgent care centers, etc....
