Exam 1 notes Theater: -shared experience -an event that requires an actor/audience, relationship/agreement in a momentary suspension of disbelief of an imaginary circumstance Theater CANNOT proceed without : 1. Audience 2. Actors Four types of Designers : 1. Set 2. Light 3. Sound 4. Costume Theater is an action not a location. Actors agree that they will create something worthwhile for the audience to see. The audience suspends its disbelief. Theater needs: 1. Playwrights 2. Director 3. Designer Film doesn’t change but it can be : 1. Controlled 2. Edited Art gives us an opportunity for: 1. Entertainment: escape emotion expression excitement 2. Education 3. Enlightenment The Actor needs: -The goal is to work consistently & become successful 1. Talent 2. Chutzpah Two worlds: 1.
