Modernity In the entire biosphere, mankind is the only species which uses written languages to not only communicate with each other, but also keeps records of any kind. As we take a glance at the history of our own, we can find that people’s behaviors, thoughts, needs, or even life styles were gradually changing over time. Now the question becomes what is the cause of these changes? As we take a closer look at some historical examples such as the film “Modern Times”, the modernization of Laie, the invention of printing, and Freud’s progressive psychological theory, we are able to discern a steady movement of modernity within human civilization from different perspectives. It is because of modernity, people can travel in the sky; it is because of modernity, people are now using computers to communicate with others around the world; and it is because of modernity, we live the way we are living now.
