The study design accurately tests the null hypothesis by analyzing the data to determine whether thereis a difference in emotional understanding with substance abusers and the general public. The single sample T-Test is the correct statistical test used because the researchers are only testing one sample; substance abusers. The results are statistically significant because the P-value is less than .05, which makes the results statistically significant. The researcher rejects the null hypothesis by predicting no difference between the two populations.
