“Fine art is that in which the hand, the head, and the heart of mad go together.” - John Ruskin. Fine arts is a very important part of many student’s lives. Arts programs can help students with many emotional problems and makes many student’s very happy. Yet, they still do not get as much funding as sports programs. In the article “More funding for School Arts Programs, less for sports.” The author, George Heymont, states that arts programs are better for mental health and manners rather than sports. If you have ever been to a sports game, you can see how rowdy the crowd is, yet if you have ever been to any kind of fine arts concert, the crowd is very well mannered and polite. John Ruskin, sees and explains the difference between sporting events and arts events. “The line for tickets was highly disciplined, with regular check ins for those who were attending matinee and evening performances during the weekend.” Ruskin says talking about waiting for tickets for a broadway show.
