The topic for this paper is to identify a key area where the human resource (HR) department is considered critical to an organization’ overall strategic plan and then to discuss why HR is critical to that area. However, it would be difficult to remove HR’s involvement with any area of any organization because, by its very nature, HR is focused on maintaining relationships with all aspects of an organization to serves its ultimate purpose of creating a healthy and successful working environment while actively contributing to meeting the organization’s long-range vision. The activities of HR are wide and often complex depending upon the size of the organization, the industry, how much value is placed upon the role of HR within the organization, and the number of departments it must cooperatively work with. Generally these departments would include: executive/leadership, legal, marketing, accounting and finance, and production. HR is critical to all of these functional areas, as well as the organization’s overall
