P SYC INFO: L IT S EARCHING 101 I N -C LASS D EMONSTRATION In order to complete portions of your semester-long project, you will need to be able to find appropriate, scholarly articles using PsycINFO. PsycINFO is a search engine that allows you to look for articles (as well as books and book chapters) published in psychology and related journals. Note that information found on sources like Wikipedia is not acceptable for this project. Only articles found in academic, peer-reviewed journal may be used. Basically, if your Instructor cannot find it on PsycINFO, then you shouldn’t be using it! How to access PsycINFO Step 1 Go to the UIUC Stout Library’s website: http://www.library.illinois.edu/stout/index.html Step 2 Click on PsycINFO w/ PsycARTICLES Step 3 Log in with your NetID and password Step 4 Click on the “Click Here to Continue;” this will take you to the PsycINFO Search Page Tips for looking up scholarly articles on PsycINFO If you want to enter a 2+ word phrase as a search term, use quotations
