“Hot Topics” Group Presentation Project Overview: To conclude your semester in “CI 401: Introduction to Teaching in a Diverse Society”, you will be delivering a group presentation on a current “Hot Topic” related to diversity in math education. The goal of this project is to become more aware of important professional issues in your field and to begin developing philosophies and strategies to take with you into the classroom. As a teacher, you will need to have knowledge that goes beyond your personal experiences. This project will allow you to explore voices from within the professional community that have vast personal and research experience on these topics. Project Specifics: 1. There will be five groups and each group will present a different topic. Your group will deliver a 15-20 minute presentation to our class on one of two dates (11/30 or 12/7). Your presentation should include the elements listed on the back of this sheet. 2. At the end of your PowerPoint, a bibliography should be included that incorporates at least 6 different sources. At least three of the sources should come from NCTM publications such as
