Two Types of Networks  –  LAN and WAN Wide area network (WAN) - The Internet - a "network  of networks“ - in geographically dispersed areas (such as across a country or around the world). - Uses communication networks from vendors (Licensed by government)   Local area network (LAN) - Computers connected within a geographically limited area - Usually located in small area, such as a home, office building, or group of buildings - Connects two to several hundred computers
