STA 3024 Assignment 2: Key for Form 2 1. (4 points) The conditional proportions are computed as usual: divide each cell count by the corresponding row total. since we are conditioning on the explana- tory variable ie the voter’s gender ie the rows. If we were asked to compute the conditional proportions given the political party, we would rather condition on the column ie divide each cell count by the corresponding column total. Back to the question where we were supposed to condition on the gender, the conditional pro- portions are: Political Party/Gender Gender Democrats Independents Republicans Females .36 .40 .24 Males .28 .44 .28 It’s okay if you answered with percentages instead of proportions. 2. (a) (5 points) The expected counts are: Political Party/Gende Gender Democrats Independents Republicans Females 799.83 1034.74 626.43 Males 630.18 815.26 493.56 (b) (4 points, 2 for stating them and 2 for whether or not they’re satisfied) The chi-squared test assumes (i) we have a random sample and (ii) each cell’s expected count is at least 5. Both assumptions are satisfied by our data. (c) (3 points: 1.5 points for each hypothesis)

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
