We are living in a toxic environment where we are all affected by advertisements. Advertising is the best way to sell product because they are view all over the world. They are very powerful industry that spend a lot of money yearly. Advertisements are the main financial source of the media. According to a report published by Outsell Inc, the only research and advisory firm focused on the publishing and information industries,412 billion dollar was the estimated budget for advertising and marketing in the US in 2008. Advertisements take us out of reality and promise to us impossible results. Their main purpose is to communicate with the viewers, listeners, readers by pursuing them to purchase the products. Television advertising is the most powerful form of advertisement, it is the best way to engage the audience attention. It is combine of visual and audio messages. According to the recent results of Nielsen’s .Three Screen Report, a quarterly analysis from Nielsen’s Anywhere Anytime Media Measurement initiative (A2/M2), show that the average American watches approximately 153 hours of TV every month at home, a 1.2% increase from last year(2008). Models are use in advertising to create insecurities among gender. For instance, in cosmetic advertisements , the thin models who are used, have been airbrushed, to take out the existence of imperfection to impress the audience. Such image leads to a lack of confidence, anxiety, unhappiness, unhealthy diet, body dissatisfaction and even the intension of plastic surgery among women and young girls. Likewise, for masculine product, strong, tall , muscular man are used to impress the audience. And also to create Body dissatisfaction among men. The ideal men that is presented in the media is tall, muscular upper torso, scant waist and hips. This ideal of men presented by the media creates a high expectation of women from men.
