Unformatted text preview: Billie provided that with her talented voice and love for music. Billie Holiday was famous for various different songs, but none stood out more than the song Strange Fruit. This song was a strong anti-racism statement that became a permanent part of her reputation. Due to the fact that she was an African American, wherever she went there would always be someone putting her down. Strange Fruit has been called the original protest song. It is simple, but effective poetry. At a time when political protest was not often expressed in musical form, the song depicted lynching in all of its brutality. This opened many peoples eyes and made them aware of the cruelty taking place in the south. All in all, Billie was instrumental during the depression and had an everlasting impact on her generation....
