The gap expanded via wholly owned subsidiaries in some countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Ireland and Japan because they have the money in order to expand their companies. However, this is not the case for countries such as Bahrain, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, and Indonesia because they do not have the money to expand their companies. Therefore they are franchisees of these larger more developed countries because they can not form companies without help. 2. The form of countertrade that I would advise Mr. Bechtel to use is barter. I believe this because Sierra Leone does not have the money to pay for the services. However, they do have resources that they could exchange for the service being provided. Both sides would benefit from this form of countertrade. Mr. Bechtel would receive goods from Sierra Leone and Sierra Leone would receive new roads. 3.
