Dean Search Professor Van Horne Crime and Punishment 10/5/10 My Cousin Vinny Court Flaws In the movie My Cousin Vinny the process of the courtroom and its procedures are misrepresented. There are several faults that are easily recognizable from someone who has a basic understanding of the criminal justice system. If I were to watch this movie before taking this class, I would not have been able to identify the blemishes in the plot. For someone who does not have a basic understanding of the criminal justice system, the movie comes off as a funny drama filled movie. I can understand why the producers chose to do this because they were looking to draw in an audience and make money. It is unfortunate that they could not do this in a way that could represent the reality of court and its procedures. The first problem I had with the movie was when Vinny first arrives in court and is unable to understand basic courtroom processes such as telling the judge whether his clients are guilty or not guilty. When asked what his clients want to plead Vinny does not
