Introduction I have prepared this paper to go over and answer many of the questions that surround Medicare. Medicare has come under fire year after year for decades as to whether it is needed at all, if Government should manage it or privatize it, right down to doctor’s turning patients away because they are unable to collect payment for services and not to mention high malpractice insurance to care for Medicare patients.

Is Medicare in a state of crisis? Are radical measures necessary to preserve the program? Answer After conducting research I believe Medicare is in crisis due to many different issues and depending on the many different perspectives of those who give their opinion. I believe Medicare is in crisis because doctors aren’t being paid fairly for their medical services that they provide. Many have and are continually turning away patients with Medicare insurance. On top of the fact for not being paid fairly they aren’t being paid on time and when they do finally get paid they often don’t receive full payment for services rendered. This lack of payment due to medical providers causes the buck to be passed back to the patient. Doctor’s also feel that why should they continue to not receive payment and still have to pay high malpractice insurance. Some doctors and medical providers are more than willing to accept private insurance over
