Unformatted text preview: GEOG 203 Week 4 Response Food for Thought Iouri Basmanov ID 20340417 June 2 nd , 2011 (Tutorial 102) The impression that I get from reading this weeks articles and watching Food Inc last week is that food security is rapidly declining. With the introduction of genetically-modified foods and industrial farming, the source and integrity of the food we eat has been compromised. The lack of administrative structure for dealing with food issues is also absent where it is being abused the most. Transnational corporations are fully-armed with lobbyists that are there for a worthwhile cause, because they are able to achieve what the company wishes them to achieve due to the lax nature of the food regulations in Canada and the U.S. The way we eat has also changed. Not in the way that we chew food, but in our consumption patterns and our undying thirst for more cheap, engineered food.
