Functions of Management 2 Abstract Management in most business and organizational activities requires getting people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives using reliable resources efficiently and effectively. Management is comprised of four main functions planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. All four functions share a common trait which is to effectively and efficiently accomplish the organizational goal. Maintaining the organization’s resources such as financial, technological, natural, and most importantly human resources is vital to the success of a business or organization. I will discuss how the four functions of management are applied to Welker, Inc. and how each one plays an important role in the growth and development of the company as well as its personnel. Introduction Welker, Inc. is a small engineering company that manufactures products primarily for the Oil and Gas industry. It is a private family owned business that is in its third generation of leadership. A leader in the sampling industry for over fifty years it continues to custom design products to fit the customer’s needs. Welker’s founder and his son both used a single owner business model to manage the company. Today, the third generation leader wants to apply a
