Four of the things that happened in 1965 o February 1965 Malcom X is murdered He will become the Patriot Saints of the black power movement He will later be the godfather of civil rights groups o March 1965 Selma to Montgomery March Marching for civil rights Marching for voting rights People were terrorized The importance: It led to the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act o August of 1965 Watts Large ghetto in Los Angeles Most raids before 1960 involved white people attacking black people Red Summer in 1919 Called that because of so much that was lost because of those raids Black people attaching white property at Watts It shows the frustration of the black people and it lasted about 6 days Watts was a typical ghetto with black people and several things people complaint about A lot of people moved from California, Mississippi moved for a better
