Most important strategic moves that propelled Netflix’s successful
international expansion.
After reading the article, Netflix used to major and important strategic moves to expand
successfully internationally. These two strategies are:
Utilization of the three-stage expansion process into new markets
- In this case,
Netflix
used careful selection of markets based on the geography as well as psychic distance, this help
Netflix to avoid challenges such as language barriers, challenges of foreignness and it was
therefore able to develop its internationalization capabilities. This in turn helped the company to
learn how to expand and enhance its core capabilities beyond its home market which then
facilitated the first phase and the second phases of the expansion being initiated by the company.
The company
expanded into more-distant markets during the first two phases
and then Netflix was able to entre into more than 190 countries across the
globe in the third phase
(Ani, Günther, Wang, & Bondarenko, 2017)
Strategic working with those markets

As far as working with these markets is
concerned, Netflix has facilitated partnership with key local companies to
foster good relationships while at the same time effectively responding to the
customers’ demand. All these combined together has resulted to the
emergency of an exponential globalization for Netflix which has seen rapid
expansion across the globe.
