Benchmark - Epidemiologic Profile AssignmentSussan Akuta12/18/2019Executive SummaryThe main purpose of the epidemiologic profile is to relate the health issues that affect the communities living in Riverside, California providing solution to medical problems. The main health issues that affect the population include stroke, accidents, cancer, as well as heart disease.The epidemiologic profile is essential as it provides the major issues that affect the people of a particular region. In so doing, it will be possible for the responsible organs of the government to offer the necessary resources to the deserving areas. The data also helps individuals to focus on prevention strategies for major illnesses and diseases affecting the population. Whether an individual is from a black or white race, the government provides equal options enrolling people on health plans to increase the rate at which the affected receive medical services. Therefore, theresults show that regions with healthy people provide a rich history and cultural backgrounds as epidemiologic profile contributes in satisfying the quality of life for residents.
IntroductionRiverside community is the birthplace of the growing California industry and a location where the largest mission revival building of the United States is located. The population in the city is approximately 319000 with a population density of about 3900 people living in each square mile.The median age of residents in the city cover 32.1% of the population compared to the entire California. Close to 30.6% of the people in the city are married with no children, 10.8% are divorced and serve as single parents while 18% have children in their marriage. The rest 45.6% are children and students .In terms of race, whites occupy a larger percentage of 76.6% followed by the blacks 7.3% while the rest are from different races such as Latinos, Indians, Asians and Hispanics. The economy of the city takes approximately 284 thousand people (McColl, 2017) living in housing units. The main social activities that take place in the city in the city consist of proving personal assistance and health care, educational services, and retail trade. The highest paying sectors include the public administration, utilities, technical and services as well as professional services. The median income in MD is $47,131 with that of the male gender accounting for 1.23 while females receive less making them more dependent on men. In responseto the income inequality issue in the city, it is at 0.461 a figure which is lower compared to the national average. The households in the city account for a lower median annual income compared to the total amount earned by the US which is approximately $60,336 (Mode, Evans &Zonderman, 2016). As a result, about 22.4% of the residents live below the poverty line due to income disparities in the region. The number represents 134 thousand of the total 597 thousand people which is higher compared to the national average which stands at 13.4%.
