Theology 10/03/11 John Chapter One: Illustrates a high Christology which means it emphasizes the divinity of Jesus. A Trinitarian notion that there is not just an eternal God but also the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. They are of the same being. Through the “word” that God creates his message. “Through whom all things were made”. The contrast between light and darkness is a central theme in the book of John. Those who reject Jesus are in the darkness and those who accept him are in the light. John the Baptist is also mentioned and because he shows up multiple times in these books there is more credibility that he exists. He testifies for the light and points towards Jesus. Another theme is the idea of the world and people’s faith in Jesus. The Jewish people reject Jesus at this point. Anyone who believes in Jesus becomes a child of God and he will accept them.
