Persuasive Speech: Courtney Harris Texting And Driving Topic: National Problem Organization: Topical Specific Purpose: I would like my audience to know how dangerous it is to text while operating a vehicle. I. Introduction A. Attention Getter: Imagine heading home for the holidays on a long and winding back road. You get a text message and all of the sudden you’re in the other lane. Bam, your dead. The last words you said to your parents were I love you and I’ll see you soon. The truth is, they will be waiting for you, forever. Was it worth it to send that last text message to your friend? B. Relevance: Texting and Driving has become on of the highest reasons for death in America. C. Credibility: Although I have never been involved in an accident due to texting and driving, I’m not proud of this but I’ll admit, I have sent a text message while driving. D. Propositional Statement: Texting and Driving is a growing epidemic between young teens and adults alike in America. There is a cure for this and it is a simple one. Don’t do it. Transition: Let’s look at some interesting facts and statistics involved with texting and driving. II.
