Courtney Harris Essay #5 In the world today it is surprisingly easy to determine the social class of any individual. Whether it be the way someone dresses, people they associate themselves with and call their friends, or the material belongings someone possesses. All can truly represent who someone is, or how they wish to be portrayed. Judgments are passed hundreds of times a day, unconsciously placing people into different classes. Education also plays a tremendous role in the disconnection between these social classes. Failing to graduate college with a degree makes living a successful life difficult today in America. Over the past decade the rich have slowly separated themselves from the working class, leaving the middle class nowhere to be found. While getting caught up in our own lives and putting our needs first, we lose sight of what is really important to us in life. Through motifs, as well as symbolism and visual irony this visual aid depicts the American society as a technologically consumed, self-obsessed group of people.
