Jan 16, 2007 --Format of Essay 1-- Thesis Body paragraph to back up, evidence Bible Stories Introduction -The Bible as a collection of stories - -bible stories that illustrate virtue -potential to put moral behavior into people’s lives -stories contribute to good character -“Am I my brothers keeper”: first murderer story -David and Goliath: moral: God will lead -Judges: Gods favor of Samson, Samson is victorious in the end -POINT: stories that only recount the history but they also function of a form of moral instruction. -CLAIM: Bible stories were selected for a purpose to tell a story (MORE) -Paradox 1 of stories in the Bible -incorporates so little stories in the Bible -Types of Stories -Parables -Abimelech and the Bramble (Jud 9:7-21) -Bible is recounted the rise of Abimelech (false King of Isrealites because he isn’t in favor of God) -Jophum survives Abimelech’s massacre of his siblings -Jophum tries to have decided to have a king to rule over them. -Bramble Bush (useless) if they pick it then they will be sad
