Unformatted text preview: Robby Regan Portfolio Opportunity Physical Geology Moon Many scientists believed for a very long time that the moon was a very smooth surface, but that was only from a distance. When up close to the moon, it is a very rocky and rough- terrene place. On the first lunar lander, Jim Head and Farouq El-Baz were responsible for the choosing of the landing site. The first landing site was in the sea of tranquility as called by scientists. The first astronauts to set foot on the moon were Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Mike Collins. Both Mike Collins and Buzz Aldrin graduated from West Point. Neil was the first person to ever step foot on the moon. The trip these three men took to the moon cost the United States government over twenty billion dollars in expenses. When the men got into outer space, it took four days to enter lunar orbit. After four days, the space ship was about 250,000 miles away from the Earth. When the intended to hit the landing site, they overshot the planned spot. They from the Earth....
