V_Jaw_Plate_xxx We will use this part in order to demonstrate changing some of the sketcher properties. Start a new sketch, then from the Main Menu select Sketch>Options… The Sketcher Preferences window opens. Take a look at some of the options available. For detailed information on these options, go to context sensitive help and click in the Sketcher Preferences Window. For this exercise, the preferences have been set as shown here.

V_Jaw_Plate_xxx(2 of 4) Find the Create Points icon on the sketcher tool bar and select it. Zoom in on your graphics area until you see a grid proportioned similar to that shown here and place a point on the grid. Notice it “snaps” to the grid points. Next, using the selection tool, drag the point around. Note the weak dimensions showing the position from the origin. Since our plate is 2 ¾ x 1 ¾ inches, we will place a point there as shown. A rectangle can now be snapped between the origin and the point.
