WHO definition: Child sexual abuse is the involvement of a child in sexual activity that he or she does not fully comprehend, is unable to give informed consent to, or for which the child is not developmentally prepared and cannot give consent, or that violate the laws or social taboos of society. Child sexual abuse is evidenced by an activity between a child and an adult or another child who by age or development is (WHO, 1999) in a relationship of responsibility, trust or power, the activity being intended to gratify or satisfy the needs of the other person.

Males and females could be abused (infact in some eastern countries boys are more commonly abused than girls) Abuser could be an adult or an older child (adolescent) Modes of abuse include Inter-crural, rectal, oral, intercourse, pornography and fondling.

Stranger Note that in most cases the abuser is a direct family member (father, mother, brother; so do NOT fall into the mistake of excluding these, especially if the abused child is not willing to confess who abused them) abusers are are more commonly males, although some studies show quite high percentage of the abuser being females (up to 45% in some studies)
