Spinal reflexes S.C Sensory neuron : transmitt signal from muscle to the cord through posterior spinal root. Interneurons: Motor neuron: give the command to the muscle through the anterior root.

Spinal reflexes Interneurons -in the ant. and post. gray horns and the intermediate area -numerous short neurons -highly excitable (can fire spontaneously) -many interconnections (with sensory and motor roots, with the spinal tracts and with each others) - Some are excitatory others are inhibitory. - Renshaw cells : special type of interneurons in the ant. horn, inhibitory. Inhibit the surrounding motor neurons to shrpen the signal to the desired direction.

Spinal reflexes Motor neurons: from S.C to the muscle Alpha motor neurons: Aα type innervate the large skeletal muscle fibers skeletal muscle contraction Gamma motor neurons: innervate the intrafusal fibers of the muscle spindle to control and maintain muscle tone.
