January 18, 2011 Darnley Dessimus HU Id. @026-38-409 Class Notes *Quick Review: Philosophy is an analysis of feelings as they drive values; they are our foundations of life, the principles by which we govern ourselves. Philosophy is concept reduction. Ex. space & time (Einstein) they are not separate. Space – is an extension of something, something being more or less stretched out. Time – is difference or succession, it is measured by if there is a difference, if there is no difference there is no time. You can stop time through sensory deprivation. *Note: Major difference between philosophy and other sciences are the degrees of generality. Newton – figured out that what happens in the heavens (space) happens here on Earth as well. They are one & the same. The rules for motion here on Earth are the same everywhere else in the universe.
