Kang, Haily Mrs. Miller Magnet English 8 Period 4 4 June 2020 “Need to Stop Procrastinating? Try this.” By Daryl Chen 1. His anecdote starts with an anecdote because it is a hook that pulls in the audience while allowing them to relate to this problem frequently. 2. Citing Nic Voge several times in this article allows people to see that it is not just him who thinks that way but others who understand procrastination. It shows another scientific view. 3. B) Procrastination is rooted in the idea that our self-worth comes from how well we perform in life. 4. A) “The equation that we carry around in our head is flawed…your ability is not equivalent to your worth” (Paragraph 16). 5. The writer means that the reason procrastinators don’t work earlier is because they believe that their performance is based upon their abilities in that subject. The ability of a person also defines the worth of a person and how useful they are. Although this statement is thought by the writer and its sources, I disagree with this statement that their performance equals their ability and their self-worth as a person. The reason I disagree is because I believe not all procrastinators do this. As a procrastinator myself, I believe I procrastinate because of my laziness and failure to manage time efficiently. This statement would be important to understand because if we are able to figure the reason why procrastinators lack the motivation to work, then we are able to understand other things they do as well.
