Estimate the minimum percent scrap possible in producing round blanks of 20 mm in diameter from a strip of 40 mm wide if the clearance between the blanks is to be one-tenth of the radius of the blank. 3. A 20-gage (0.0359 in) steel sheet is bent to a radius of 0.5 in. Assuming that its yield stress is 40,000 psi and Young’s modulus is 29x10 6 psi, calculate the following: (a) Considering the springback, calculate the radius of the bent part to achieve the radius of 0.5 in. (b) The required bend angle to achieve a 90 ° bend after springback has occurred. Use the following relationship.
