Detail When data is in list form, Microsoft Excel can create an outline to let you hide or show levels of detail with a single mouse click. An outline lets you quickly display only the rows or columns that provide summaries or groupings for sections of your worksheet, or display detail data associated with a summary row or column. How to Outline Data Automatic methods Data, Group and Outline, Auto Outline Data, Subtotals Manual method Data, Group and Outline, Group Sample Worksheets in this Workbook Data w/no existing summary formulas, but in a format suitable for automatic outlining. Data with summary formulas, auto outlined. Retail trade data but in list format, with no summary formulas. Subtotalling provides outline. Hierarchical text data, suitable for outlining. 8-Views and 9-View Worksheet A short description of how to create a worksheet view. Miscellaneous See Excel's online help for complete information about outlining and grouping. Choose Data, Group and Outline, Settings to select a look. 1-Companions and 2-Cpns Outlined Automatically 3-Retail Trade and 4-Retail Trade Auto Outlined 5-Retail Trade as List and 6-Rtl Trade Subtotalled 7-Agenda and 8-Outlined Agenda To display or hide outline symbols, use the Tools, Options, View dialog.
